The Deacons' Ministry assists the Pastor in promoting and advancing the general welfare of the church body. The Ministry helps with serving the Holy Communion at the church and serves Communion to the sick and shut-ins in their homes, hospitals, and nursing and rehabilitation facilities. They actively participate in the Bible study, prayer meetings and assist with the Baptism of candidates. In addition, they provide assistance to the needy, sick and bereaved families of the church. The Ministry is also responsible for doing the following duties, as well: building Christian fellowship among the church membership; being watchful guardians of the purity and good order of the church; counseling with the Pastor; taking appropriate steps to cure and promote improvement in the interest of the church; supervising and administering the church's benevolence program, including contributions to charities, as the Pastor and/or church may designate, and making a report to the church as requested; and performing a serving in other areas of need as the Pastor and or church deem necessary.

The Deaconess Ministry assist the Pastor and Deacons in the spiritual development of the church, with special emphasis upon rendering assistance to women, young adults and children. The Deaconess Ministry cooperates with and assists the Pastor and Deacons Ministry in visiting members, caring for the sick, needy and distressed members of the church, and i preparing for the observance of the ordinances of the Church and many other services of need.

The Salem Baptist Sunday Church School is the teaching and training arm of the Salem Baptist Church. The Sunday Church School range in age from the cradle roll to the adult department. Our teachers and staff are trained at the Baptist Educational Congress of the District of Columbia and Vicinity, the Mount Bethel Educational Congress, the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Institute, Washington, D.C. The Progressive National Baptist Convention, Inc., and the Greater Washington Convention Education Association Institute (GWCEA). The Sunday Church School teachers and staff attend many additional Institutes and seminars to help equip them in teaching the Word of God. The teachers and staff are God fearing individuals who are rightly dividing the Word of truth.

To help keep the knowledge of learning visible, the Sunday Church School recognizes and has programs for the following services: Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Birthday, Afro-Centric Program, Palm Sunday, Resurrection (Easter) Sunday, Promotion Day, Christian Education Day, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Independence Day, Grandparent's Day, Harvest Festival, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas.

Vacation Bible School is held during the summer to enhance the learning of both children and adults through the teaching of God's Word and hands on activities in arts and crafts.
